Aqueous Depths expands the underwater world of Minecraft with a variety of fresh ocean biomes, unique mobs, new structures, and exciting gameplay features. This addon enriches ocean exploration by introducing diverse environments, challenging creatures, and special items without requiring experimental gameplay settings or conflicting with vibrant visuals.

Installation / How to Use

To add Aqueous Depths to your Minecraft Bedrock experience, simply import the addon package into your game and activate it within your world settings. No experimental toggles are necessary, allowing seamless integration. Once enabled, explore the oceans to encounter new biomes, mobs, and structures introduced by this expansion.

Requirements / Compatibility

This addon is designed for Minecraft Bedrock Edition and does not require any experimental gameplay options to function. Note that it is incompatible with the “Vibrant Visuals” addon or similar graphical enhancements. It is recommended to use this addon independently for the best experience.

Key Features

New Ocean Biomes

  • Drenched Void: A deep, dark, and foggy biome extending to the ocean floor, creating an eerie atmosphere.
  • Thermal Seas: Vibrant yellow ocean waters featuring magma pockets, boiling bubbles, floating islands, and fire-themed aquatic mobs.
  • Glowing Ocean: Illuminated waters filled with Sea Glowstone, glowing cod, and glow squids that brighten the depths.
  • Dread Reef: A pale coral reef variant hosting pale fish and exclusive hostile mobs.
  • Island Ocean: Characterized by clusters of islands and towering spikes.
  • Iceberg Ocean: A frozen ocean variant with tall icebergs and sharp ice spikes.

Mobs and Their Behaviors

The addon implements a food chain system categorizing mobs as Prey, Neutral, or Predator, affecting their interactions:

  • Prey: Mostly passive creatures such as fish and squids.
  • Neutral: Attack when provoked or under specific circumstances (e.g., guardians, drowned).
  • Predator: Hostile toward most aquatic life and players; can be deterred temporarily with chum clusters.

Notable Mobs

  • Clams: Found across ocean biomes, drop food when killed. Shearing open clams yields pearls whose color depends on the biome.
  • Jellyfish: Glow softly as they swim; passive in nature.
  • Reefopods: Coral reef-dwelling fish swimming in groups.
  • Shrimp: Common fish mob that drops food.
  • Sea Snails: Shell-dwelling creatures that retreat when threatened; color varies by biome.
  • Merfolk: Humanoid aquatic beings hostile unless players wear Scrap Metal Armor. They can be traded with, and baby merfolk can be adopted and equipped to assist players. Includes a hostile brute variant.
  • Sea Urchins: Slow-moving, damaging creatures that drop spines.
  • Bubbalings: Swim near players; attack in groups if provoked.
  • Magma Puffer: Similar to pufferfish but with damaging puff stages and explosive death when fully puffed.

Hostile Creatures and Bosses

  • Abyss Guardian: Found in Shrine structures; attacks with explosive boiling bubble beams.
  • Prismarine Foes: Fast-moving enemies equipped with varied prismarine gear.
  • Sunken Golem: Protects marble ruins.
  • Sunken: Water skeletons using wooden harpoons, switching to melee combat up close.
  • Adaptive Drowned: Biome-specific drowned variants with unique designs and abilities.
  • Giant Squid: Slow predators that create blinding ink clouds when attacking.
  • Drowned Shark: Approaches slowly, then swiftly attacks players and boats.
  • Magma Latcher: Attaches to targets causing rapid damage and blindness.
  • Lurer: Ambush predator resembling a clam that charges at nearby targets.
  • Orthoceras: Uses a large horn to dash and attack players, merfolk, and nautilus.
  • Giant Isopod: Swarms in groups and attacks players and mobs.
  • Thermal Shrimp: Fires powerful damaging bubbles periodically.
  • Titan Clam: Instantly kills entities entering its mouth and drops Giant Pearls if killed while open.
  • Juvenile Void Wyrm: A fast, tanky miniboss with high damage output.
  • Drenched Squid: Miniboss that inflicts darkness and shockwaves, mimics blue jellyfish schools, immortal until provoked.
  • Primordial Wyrm (Boss): The addon’s main boss with 12 unique attacks; hostile to prey mobs before activation. Defeating it grants a Lumenyl Forging Template and spawns a tamable baby version that grows into a rideable Juvenile Void Wyrm.

Structures

  • Atlantis Trial Chambers: Underwater trial chambers filled with water creatures; the sole source for tridents and exclusive items like the Prismarine Gauntlet.
  • Aqueous Soul Forge: Contains the Soul Forge for crafting special items.
  • Marble Ruins: Ancient ruins guarded by Sunken Golems.
  • Structure Block Shrine: Houses the Ruined Structure Block that summons turrets attacking non-holders.
  • Merfolk Bastion: A base for merfolk with multiple variants.

Items

Cleavers: These weapons deal slightly less damage than swords but unleash a powerful strike every fifth hit, dealing quadruple damage (excluding effects). They track hits from other cleavers for added combat depth.
