Minecraft 26.70.22 is a Beta and Preview build for the upcoming Drop 4 of 2026. As a work-in-progress release, it may be unstable and may not reflect the final quality of the update.
What is new in Minecraft 26.70.22?
This build introduces Snow Bricks, a decorative snow-themed block set. The set includes standard blocks, slabs, stairs, and walls, does not melt, and is best mined with a shovel.
Cold Sulfur Cubes are also new. Equip a Sulfur Cube with Blue Ice to give it the Cold archetype. When it moves over water source blocks, it creates Frosted Ice in a way similar to the Frost Walker effect.
Gameplay and world changes
- Wandering Traders can sell one Ice Crystal for two Emeralds.
- Villagers and Zombie Villagers spawn as snowy variants in Ice Caves.
- Husks and Drowned now convert into Zombies before becoming Frostbites in Powder Snow.
- Zombies, Husks, and Drowned no longer take freezing damage in Powder Snow.
- Frogs and adult turtles more reliably climb out of deep water onto nearby land.
Fixes and improvements
Minecraft 26.70.22 includes fixes for teleporting, multiplayer connections, split-screen animation speed, ray tracing rendering, captions, Realms, Marketplace screens, and several interface issues.
Android players using a physical keyboard receive input fixes: Tab in chat now autocompletes commands, while Ctrl+Backspace and Ctrl+Delete remove whole words.
Creator and technical updates
For creators, the build adds the minecraft:sulfur_cube_archetype_cold tag, updates collision-box support from format version 1.26.70 onward, and adds Linux dedicated-server pack optimization support. The beta API also adds item-frame component tools for inspecting and changing displayed items and rotation.
