Minecraft 26.70.21 is a Beta and Preview build that tests features planned for a future game drop. Because it is a work-in-progress version, players may encounter bugs, unfinished behavior, or changes before the final release.
What is new in Minecraft 26.70.21?
This build introduces Packed Ice Bricks, a decorative blue block set made from packed ice. The set includes bricks, slabs, stairs, walls, and chiselled blocks. Packed Ice Bricks do not melt and are best mined with a pickaxe.
Ice blocks can now create ambient sounds when they meet the required surrounding conditions. Ice Caves also receive generation and gameplay adjustments, including more consistent crevasse density and the possibility of falling into caves when Brittle Ice breaks.
Gameplay and feature changes
- Ice Ball base damage has been increased to 2, then falls as velocity is lost.
- Potions of Freezing can be extended with Redstone Dust.
- Cold animal variants can spawn from Spawn Eggs in Ice Caves.
- Polar Bears, Snow Golems, and Strays are immune to the Freezing effect.
- Frost Walker now freezes water in a circular area and only while the wearer is on the ground.
Music Features Add-On
The built-in Music Features Add-On adds new ways to use music. Craft Blank Discs, use a Disc Press to make Track Discs, and carry up to 20 Track Discs or vanilla music discs in a Pocket Jukebox. These features require the Music Features Add-On resource pack in a world and do not work with Realms yet.
Fixes and technical updates
Minecraft 26.70.21 fixes issues affecting gameplay, visuals, items, Realms, menus, world saving, and Marketplace search on Android. It also contains API, block component, Editor, entity component, GameTest, and network protocol updates for creators and add-on developers.
Back up important worlds before testing a Beta or Preview build. Features and behavior in this version can change before the full Minecraft release.
