Minecraft 26.70.20 is a Beta and Preview release published on October 13, 2026. It introduces more features from Drop 4 of 2026, including fragile Brittle Ice, automated jukebox playlists, and crevasses in the Ice Cave biome.
This is a work-in-progress build. Preview and beta versions can contain bugs, behave unpredictably, or change before the features reach a stable Minecraft release.
Brittle Ice and Ice Cave crevasses
Brittle Ice is a new block that cracks when a player or most mobs stand on it. It breaks after three cracking stages but does not melt. The block can generate naturally and can also form when water flows beside Blue Ice.
Crevasses now generate throughout the Ice Cave biome. Brittle Ice may cover their openings, while water pools can appear at the bottom. Frostbites are able to stand on Brittle Ice without breaking it.
Jukebox playlists
Players can create a playlist by placing a single Chest, Trapped Chest, or Copper Chest variant directly above a Jukebox. Music Discs play in slot order, while empty slots and unrelated items are skipped.
- The playlist loops after reaching the final available disc.
- The Jukebox exchanges a finished disc for the next one.
- Ejecting the current disc skips to the next available disc.
- If no other disc is available, the current one plays again.
Experimental Nether changes
A separate Nether Spawning Rebalancing experiment reduces mob density and adjusts fortress spawning to behave more like Minecraft: Java Edition. Because it is experimental, players must enable it intentionally and should expect further changes.
Fixes and technical improvements
The build includes fixes for graphics, mobs, Realms, accessibility, stability, sounds, and the user interface. Notable changes include improved Android memory allocation, several crash fixes, reduced lag when first opening an Abandoned Camp chest, and correct importing of .mcworld and .mcaddon files while Minecraft is already running.
Minecraft Preview is offered on supported Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, and iOS devices. The Minecraft beta is available to enrolled Android users through Google Play. Back up important worlds before testing an unfinished version.
