A “Poisonous Potato Update” first April update has been released for Minecraft

It’s not the first year in a row that Minecraft creators celebrate April 1 by releasing some kind of mock update – Poisonous Potato Update. The 2024 update welcomed the audience with a potato dimension and a new mob – a poisonous tuber. It also includes new blocks and a fry table.

Minecraft players have noted many times that poison potatoes have too few uses: they’re just a food with a 60% chance of imposing poisoning for four seconds. In a mock patch, the developers have added a new “potato” dimension where non-poisoned tubers are rare. In addition, the tubers can be cooked in the fryer, as well as to collect blocks from them. The authors joked that no new mineral blocks were added to the game, because potatoes contain potassium, magnesium and iron.
