TNT Addon
16.03.2026
TNT Addon introduces seven powerful TNT variants to Minecraft Bedrock Edition, including five standard and two bonus TNT types, each creating vast spherical explosions. This addon enhances the destructive capabilities available to Bedrock and mobile players, rivaling some of the large-scale TNT mods traditionally exclusive to Java Edition.
Installation and Usage
To use this addon, activate the “Beta APIs” option within the Experimental Features section of your world settings. The main file includes five TNT types suited for devices with lower performance or limited memory, such as mobile devices. The two bonus TNTs are provided separately due to their extreme destructive power and lack of unique textures. It is recommended to use a high-end device when igniting these larger TNTs.
For optimal performance, adjust your render distance to accommodate the size of the TNT crater, especially for the largest TNTs. Setting simulation distance to maximum is also advised. Note that ticking areas used during explosion processing will be removed automatically; keep track of their coordinates if you need to reapply them after TNT detonations.
Avoid igniting multiple TNT blocks simultaneously, as this can interfere with internal ticking processes and significantly increase rendering time.
Requirements and Compatibility
- Requires Minecraft Bedrock Edition with Beta APIs enabled.
- Recommended for use on devices capable of handling high memory and processing demands, especially for TNT #6 and TNT #7.
- Ensure render and simulation distances are set high enough to fully process TNT explosions.
Key Features
- Seven distinct TNT types with increasing explosion radii and render times:
TNT #1
Explosion Radius: 20 blocks
Render Time: Instantaneous
TNT #2
Explosion Radius: 40 blocks
Render Time: Approximately 1 second
TNT #3
Explosion Radius: 80 blocks
Render Time: Around 3 seconds
TNT #4
Explosion Radius: 160 blocks
Render Time: Approximately 14 seconds
TNT #5
Explosion Radius: 320 blocks
Render Time: About 1 minute 23 seconds
Bonus TNT #6
Explosion Radius: 640 blocks
Render Time: Over 6 minutes
Bonus TNT #7
Explosion Radius: 1280 blocks
Render Time: More than 27 minutes

Notes and Troubleshooting
- Due to limitations in Bedrock Edition, the addon uses ticking areas to manage explosion processing; these may be removed during use and must be reapplied manually if needed.
- The largest TNT explosions require maximum render distance (up to 96 chunks) for best performance.
- TNT blocks differ from vanilla ones: they do not emit sounds when blocks are placed on them, disappear instead of igniting when burned or destroyed, and have altered ignition mechanics.
- Rendering may appear slow or buggy initially; waiting for the process to complete or restarting the world can help resolve this.
- Some minor issues remain, such as occasional lingering water or lava in craters and occasional block sticking in the largest explosions.
- This addon currently lacks a method to differentiate between simulation distance limits and world boundaries in older world types, which can affect explosion processing in very large worlds.
Future Plans
Upcoming updates aim to introduce a customizable TNT with adjustable explosion radius that will replace TNT #6 and #7. Additional features planned include a TNT launcher with rapid-fire capability and configurable lists for blocks that TNT will preserve or destroy.
