Sweep ‘N Slash brings key elements from the Java Edition 1.9 Combat Update into Minecraft Bedrock Edition, enhancing combat mechanics with more precise damage calculations, sweep attacks, and customizable features. This add-on improves sword attack dynamics, introduces Java-style knockback effects, and offers new ways to visualize combat indicators for a more engaging experience.

Installation

To use Sweep ‘N Slash, ensure you enable the Beta API in your game settings, as this add-on requires it for full functionality.

Download the add-on package and import it into your Minecraft Bedrock Edition world or server. For users unfamiliar with beta or experimental features, it is recommended to use the stable release version.

How to Use

Once installed, Sweep ‘N Slash automatically modifies sword combat behavior to include sweep attacks and adjusts knockback effects. You can customize several options through the configuration menu, including attack indicator styles and sweep attack particle colors.

The add-on supports toggling features like axe vs. shield interactions and saturation healing. Operators have access to additional toggles such as debug mode and mid-game add-on activation.

Requirements: Beta API enabled in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Compatibility Notes: Sweep ‘N Slash is designed to work alongside various add-ons, including Better on Bedrock, Cataclysmical, Vanilla Knives, Vanilla Battle Axes, Flint Tools, Vanilla Throwing Knives, Copper Expansion, and Java Essentials Command Expansion.

Confirmed Incompatibilities:

• Java Aspects (Resource Pack): Certain sound effects for critical hits and sprint knockback will not behave correctly due to how sounds are handled.
• VDX: Java/Desktop UI (Resource Pack): UI incompatibility issues.
• True Weapons and EmptyCoso’s Dungeons Content: Use hit events for item functions, preventing compatibility.
• RLCraft (Marketplace): Uses player.json, causing incompatibility.

Key Features

Sweep Attacks and Shield Knockback Adjustment

Swords gain sweep attack capabilities similar to Java Edition, allowing attacks to hit multiple enemies in a single swipe. Shield knockback effects are disabled for a more balanced combat feel.

Java Edition Damage Calculation

The add-on replicates Java Edition’s damage formula for more accurate and consistent damage values, demonstrated by a maximum damage hit of 36.5 on an undead mob with proper enchantments and effects.

Enhanced Knockback Mechanics

Custom knockback logic closely mimics Java Edition’s behavior, bringing a familiar feel to Bedrock combat, though some differences in Bedrock’s engine remain.

Saturation Healing

Implements Java-style saturation healing, improving natural regeneration mechanics. Note that enabling this feature automatically disables the default Natural Regeneration gamerule; remember to re-enable it if you turn off saturation healing. Avoid using this together with other saturation healing add-ons.

Attack Indicator Options

Choose from multiple attack indicator styles including Crosshair, Hotbar, and Geyser variants to suit your preference.

Customizable Sweep Attack Colors

Adjust the colors of sweep attack particles, which are visible to all players for enhanced visual feedback.

Additional Features

• Server-side configuration options including mid-game toggle and debug mode (requires ‘sweepnslash.config’ tag).
• Toggle axe versus shield behavior and saturation healing for operators.
• Compatibility with Java Essentials team mechanics using ‘ae_je:team:’ tag prefix.
• Projectiles inherit the shooter’s velocity for realistic physics.
• Configuration menu allows personal customization of particle visibility, enchanted hit effects, bow hit sounds in PvP, and exclusion of tamed pets from sweep attacks.

Compatibility Patch Guide

The add-on supports customizable weapon statistics and scripting for creating compatibility patches, enabling adaptation of weapon damage, special effects, and mechanics to work alongside Sweep ‘N Slash. A detailed guide is currently under development.
