Billey’s Mobs – Useful Pets
2.04.2026
Billey’s Mobs – Useful Pets introduces a variety of unique and practical pets to enhance your Minecraft Bedrock survival experience. This addon features pet leveling, achievements, and even includes two boss encounters, adding depth and fun to your gameplay.
Installation / How to Use
Ensure that Beta APIs are enabled in your world settings before activating this addon to guarantee full functionality. Upon joining the world for the first time, you’ll receive an info book that provides comprehensive guidance on all pets and features included. This book is the best resource for learning about the addon’s mechanics and pet details.
You can teleport your pets along with you by using the command /preparetp or /billey:preparetp. Pets set to follow you will teleport with you within one minute of using this command. Additionally, you can make your following pets teleport instantly to your location by performing a double-sneak action.
Requirements / Compatibility
This addon is designed for Minecraft Bedrock Edition with Beta APIs enabled. It is compatible with the latest versions supporting addons. There is also a Java Edition port named “Practical Pets” for Forge 1.20.1, although it is still under development.
Key Features
- Diverse Useful Pets: Adds a wide range of pets including ducks, anglerfish, mercats, pigeons, sharks, and more, each with unique behaviors and abilities.

Mercat
Mercats inhabit unfrozen lakes and rivers. They are tamed using raw piranha or sea pizza. Mercats cannot breathe underwater and must surface for air, but can survive indefinitely out of water. They only sit on land and can be controlled to move with a stick.
Using a nautilus shell on a tamed mercat toggles weather between clear and thunderstorms. In multiplayer, at least half of online players must be near mercats to activate weather changes.
Mercats bring sea-related items to you after you sleep if one is nearby and not sitting. They also aggressively eliminate groups of small fish after taming.
Zombie/Withered Cat
- Wild: 8 health (4 hearts), attacks cats and sometimes players, spawns in jungle at night, burns in daylight, tamed with fish or string
- Tamed: 20 health (10 hearts), peaceful with normal cats, brings random ores when you wake up
Skeleton Cat
Similar to Zombie Cat but tamed with nether wart. It delivers Nether items upon waking and can be neutral or aggressive. It is dyeable.
Pigeon

Pizzafish

- Shearable to drop pizza pieces, which can be reattached
- Friendly to all except monsters
- Spawns in coral reefs and regrows pizza pieces over time
Shark
- Health: 40 (20 hearts)
- Attack damage: 15 (7.5 hearts)
- Spawns primarily in deep oceans
- Attacks various fish and monsters
- Drops shark teeth to craft a powerful but low durability sword
- Petting yields shark scales used to craft armor that grants swimming speed and buffs
Endercat
- Wild: 16 health (8 hearts), attacks cats and sometimes players, teleports randomly, spawns at jungle nights and in the End, tamed with chorus fruit
- Tamed: 32 health (16 hearts), peaceful with vanilla cats, can teleport nearby monsters away on command, brings End-related items when waking

Angel Cat and End Angel Cat
- Angel Cat: scares phantoms, creepers, hostile cats; drops phantom membranes; spawns in jungles; provides regeneration to pets and snails
- End Angel Cat: spawns in the End and jungle nights; teleports randomly; immune to water; tamed with chorus fruit; grants strength and speed to snails
Duck
Ducks appear in lakes and rivers and can be tamed with seeds, carrots, melon, or bread. Once tamed and active, they find random items including seeds, fishing loot, and occasionally ore nuggets like diamonds. Duck armor can be crafted to enable ducks to defend their owners, with special armors like the End Rod armor that allows ducks to shoot weakness-inducing projectiles.
The rare Rubber Ducky pet hat can be found by ducks and equipped on any pet to increase their combat effectiveness and encourage them to fight for you.
Ducks level up by killing mobs, with increased stats and better item-finding at higher levels. Level ranges from 1 to 10.

- Spawns rarely in plains and more commonly in flower forests

- Applies withering and levitation effects to monsters, resistance to pets, and converts pigeon poop into bone meal
Penguin
- Spawns on beaches, snowy beaches, and frozen ocean surfaces
- Health: 17 (8.5 hearts)
- Attack damage: 5 (2.5 hearts)
- Neutral; tamed, tempted, bred, and healed with sea pizza
- Can wear hats which can be removed by replacing them
- Feeding a hat-wearing penguin sugar yields an ice cream item that grants beneficial effects, stronger in warm biomes and the Nether, but harmful in cold biomes
- Penguins shed feathers used to craft boots that increase speed on snow, ice, and even sand
Piranha
- Health: 3 (1.5 hearts)
- Attack damage: up to 3 (1.5 hearts) with a brief slowness effect
- Two primary variants; spawn in lakes, rivers, and swamps in groups
- Untamed piranhas attack nearby non-piranha mobs periodically, with group aggression
- Not attacked by mobs but can die from self-defense
